ISOCELL HM2, GW3 and JD1 have already entered mass production

Samsung Electronics has released four new Samsung ISOCELL image sensors with a pixel size of 0.7 μm. We are talking about ISOCELL HM2 with a resolution of 108 megapixels, ISOCELL GW3 with a resolution of 64 megapixels, ISOCELL GM5 with a resolution of 48 megapixels and ISOCELL JD1 with a resolution of 32 megapixels.

Samsung's latest sensors with 0.7μm pixel size are 15% smaller than 0.8μm sensors of similar resolution, and the height of the camera module has been reduced by 10%. This frees up additional space inside the chassis or makes it thinner.

The new image sensors use the improved ISOCELL 2.0 technology, which can increase light sensitivity by 12% over ISOCELL.

The 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM2 sensor is about 15% more compact than its 0.8-micron predecessors. The sensor received a Super PD fast focusing system, Nona-Binning technology to combine nine pixels into one, and support for three times zoom without loss of quality.

The 64-megapixel ISOCELL GW3 is nearly identical in size to Samsung's 48-megapixel 0.8-micron sensor. Tetracell and Smart-ISO technologies provide high brightness and accurate color reproduction. It also features an electronic image stabilization system based on a gyroscope. The sensor supports video recording up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

The 48-megapixel ISOCELL GM5 is designed for use in telescopic or ultra-wide angle cameras. There is support for 5x optical zoom. In ultra wide-angle shooting, the sensor supports Full HD recording at 480 frames per second.

The ISOCELL JD1 is the industry's smallest 32-megapixel 1 / 3.14-inch optical format sensor. It is intended for use in selfie cameras. Like the GM5, the JD1 is the first ISOCELL sensor to feature HDR.

ISOCELL HM2, GW3 and JD1 have already entered mass production. GM5 is under testing.
