Samsung has released new image sensors for 108MP, 64MP, 48MP and 32MP with 0.7 pixel size
Samsung has released new image sensors for 108MP, 64MP, 48MP and 32MP with 0.7 pixel size

ISOCELL HM2, GW3 and JD1 have already entered mass production

Samsung Electronics has released four new Samsung ISOCELL image sensors with a pixel size of 0.7 μm. We are talking about ISOCELL HM2 with a resolution of 108 megapixels, ISOCELL GW3 with a resolution of 64 megapixels, ISOCELL GM5 with a resolution of 48 megapixels and ISOCELL JD1 with a resolution of 32 megapixels.

Samsung's latest sensors with 0.7μm pixel size are 15% smaller than 0.8μm sensors of similar resolution, and the height of the camera module has been reduced by 10%. This frees up additional space inside the chassis or makes it thinner.

Samsung has released new image sensors for 108MP, 64MP, 48MP and 32MP with 0.7 pixel size
The new image sensors use the improved ISOCELL 2.0 technology, which can increase light sensitivity by 12% over ISOCELL.

The 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM2 sensor is about 15% more compact than its 0.8-micron predecessors. The sensor received a Super PD fast focusing system, Nona-Binning technology to combine nine pixels into one, and support for three times zoom without loss of quality.

The 64-megapixel ISOCELL GW3 is nearly identical in size to Samsung's 48-megapixel 0.8-micron sensor. Tetracell and Smart-ISO technologies provide high brightness and accurate color reproduction. It also features an electronic image stabilization system based on a gyroscope. The sensor supports video recording up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

The 48-megapixel ISOCELL GM5 is designed for use in telescopic or ultra-wide angle cameras. There is support for 5x optical zoom. In ultra wide-angle shooting, the sensor supports Full HD recording at 480 frames per second.

The ISOCELL JD1 is the industry's smallest 32-megapixel 1 / 3.14-inch optical format sensor. It is intended for use in selfie cameras. Like the GM5, the JD1 is the first ISOCELL sensor to feature HDR.

ISOCELL HM2, GW3 and JD1 have already entered mass production. GM5 is under testing.

Sony A7C mirrorless camera with full frame sensor live image, price and specifications
Sony A7C mirrorless camera live image, price and specifications with full frame sensor

The camera will not be so cheap

We've previously written that Sony is preparing to expand its range of full-frame mirrorless cameras with the A7C - it should take the best of the a6600 system camera and the a7 III full-frame camera.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the image of the novelty, its characteristics and price.

As you can see in the photo, the A7C really turned out to be very compact (the letter "C" in the name is from the word compact). The source notes that its design is similar to that of the a6600.

The lens is also clearly visible, covering the focal length range from 28 to 60 mm - the camera can be purchased with it in a kit for 2,400 euros. For the A7C itself, they will ask 2,100 euros, and this is a lot. However, prices have not yet been approved.

Now about the characteristics. The A7C has an “old” 24MP image sensor and an “old” 2.3MP electronic viewfinder. There will be built-in stabilization system (In Body Image Stabilization - IBIS), a movable touchscreen "reduced resolution" and a mode of 4K video recording at 24 or 30 fps without cropping.

The prototype also shot 4K video at 50 or 60 fps without crop, but in the production version in these modes there will be a crop, albeit small. Worse yet, there is no radiator, which guarantees overheating problems. There is no built-in flash either.

Also in the Sony A7C - 3.5 mm jacks for connecting a microphone and headphones, one slot for SDHC memory cards, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11ac adapters, NP-FZ100 battery with a capacity of 2,280 mAh. Alas, the date of the announcement of the camera is not named.
