MediaTek has introduced a new single-chip system for its top line - Dimensity 1000C. The first smartphone with this platform was unexpectedly LG Velvet , and for the US market.
The Dimensity 1000C is a slightly slower version of the Dimensity 1000, and, as stated in the press release, adapted for the US market. Here are the same four Cortex-A77 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores, but the frequencies of the older cluster are reduced from 2.6 to 2.0 GHz. In addition, instead of the GPU Mali-G77 MC9, the Mali-G57 MC5 is used here, and this is already much more significant. If the performance of the processor frequency in Dimensity 1000C should still be high, that is, the graphics core is much slower.
But these are not all the differences. The new SoC supports a maximum of 12GB of RAM, it does not support Wi-Fi 6, and its modem data rate has been reduced from 4.7Gbps to 2.3Gbps. In addition, the maximum camera solution can be only 64 megapixels against 80 megapixels for the Dimensity 1000.
In any case, it should be a very powerful platform.
