Huawei launches Hongmeng OS 2.0 website and offers operating system source code

Huawei Harmony OS is a future-oriented distributed operating system for all spheres

Huawei officially unveiled Hongmeng OS 2.0 at the HDC 2020 Developers Conference. Immediately after, the company released the Hongmeng OS 2.0 beta for smart TVs, smart watches and car multimedia systems. The global version of Huawei Hongmeng's operating system is HarmonyOS.

The company also said it will release a mobile version in December. Some time after the launch of this version, smartphones will fully support Hongmeng 2.0. In addition, the official website of Huawei Harmony OS was launched , where the source code of the operating system is available for download.

Since September 10th, HarmonyOS is open source for the aforementioned devices, equipped with up to 128MB of RAM. In April 2021, devices with up to 4 GB of RAM will be added to the list. After October 2021, support will be added for all devices with more than 4GB of RAM.

Huawei Harmony OS is a future-oriented distributed operating system for all areas (mobile office, health, social communications, media entertainment, and so on). HarmonyOS offers a distributed concept based on the same system capabilities and adapting to different types of terminal devices.

Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei's Consumer Software Division, has already said that banning Android will do Huawei more good than harm , and also explained how the new operating system is so different from Google's brainchild.
