After recent trade bans, Huawei holds it brand strongly and launching huge number of phones in the recent days. As we already know, Huawei has overcome the largest smartphone brand Samsung recently showing its power in this highly competitive market despite several bans especially by US.

Finally the most awaited smartphone from Huawei, the Huawei Mate 40 series has been launched with three models named Huawei Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro Plus which is the top-end model in the whole Mate 40 series.

Coming to the design, the Mate 40 series phones gets a flagship level design with waterfall curved display on edges with almost no bezels and slight narrow symmetrical chins that looks nice and gets a pill-shaped notch sporting dual selfie cameras on the top left corner. The back camera model looks some what different with a circular path including cameras with LEICA branding at the centre.

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro Plus are the most exciting devices from Huawei this year and both models doesn't have much differences. Both models just vary with the rear camera resolutions with one sensor increase in the Pro plus model.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro & Mate 40 Pro+

These both models sports a large 6.76-inches OLED display that will have an amazing 1,344 x 2,772 pixels of screen resolution. They alo get 90Hz refresh rate for smoother experience similar to what we have seen on the previous P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ models, but it should have atleast 120Hz support for more additional highlight.

The display includes a pill-shape notch on the top left corner that consists of two 13-megapixel primary and secondary sensors which is assisted by a 3D ToF sensor. The curved edge has got an amazing 88-degrees curve that gives the device a flagship look from the side.

On the back side of the phone, this new model has got a quite interesting design which is the first time we have seen on any phone that gets a circular module path consisting cameras placed over it and looks a bit different from the last year's Mate 30 series phones.

The top end model Huawei Mate 40 Pro Plus, gets a total number of five cameras on the rear side, that includes a 50-megapixel primary camera with (f/1.9 aperture) with Optical Image Stabilization support, which is assisted by a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with (f/2.4 aperture) to capture ultra-wide shots.

Apart from these, the other three sensors includes an 8-megapixel periscope camera with 10x optical zoom support, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support, and a 3D ToF stereo camera for depth sensing. According to the company, the pair of periscope and telephoto cameras are capable to deliver up to an impressive 17x optical zoom which is the highest among all smartphones in the market available right now.

Further coming to the Mate 40 Pro, the phone has got a triple camera set-up unlike the penta camera setup that we have seen on the Mate 40 Pro+ model that includes a 50-megapixel primary camera with (f/1.9 aperture) and Optical Image Stabilization support, which is assisted by a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with (f/2.4 aperture) to capture ultra-wide shots and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support.

Under the hood, the Mate 40 series smartphones are powered by the latest Huawei's Kirin 9000 chipset which is built on 5nm technology, which is capable to achieve a maximum frequency upto 3.13 GHz which is much higher than the current Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865+ SoC in the market.

The battery department of the Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ phones are fuelled with a decent 4,400mAh battery that will have an amazing 66W Huawei SuperCharge fast-charging technology support. Further, along with this it also has a support for 55W wireless charging too.

Finally coming to the pricing,

• 1,199 Euros (S$1,920) - 8GB+256GB variant. 

Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ price is set at

• 1,399 Euros (S$2,245) - 12GB+256GB variant.

For those who are interested in colours, the Mate 40 Pro will be available in both Black and Mystic Silver color options.

Coming to the base model of these tri-models, Unlike the pro models the Mate 40 model comes with a slightly lower OLED display with 2376 x 1080 pixels of screen resolution. However, it retains the same 90Hz refresh rate and higher 240Hz touch sampling rate.

The camera section will have a total of three sensors like the Mate 40 pro model that consisting the same 50-megapixels primary sensor with (f/1.9 aperture), assisted by a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens with (f/2.2 aperture) and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom support.

Under the hood, the Huawei Mate 40 is powered by the same Kirin 9000 chipset for an impressive performance. And the battery capacity will be slightly smaller with 4,000mAh battery that supports up to 40W fast-charging which is also impressive for the base model.
